We Are So Excited for Your 1st Dance Class!
Here’s What to Expect
Thank you for booking your 1st dance class with us at Untouchable Dance Studio! We are so excited to meet you and have you join us! We want to make sure you feel completely prepared, so here’s everything you need to know to get the most out of your visit!
1. Appointment Confirmation
You should be receiving (or may have already received) a confirmation text with all your trial class details, including the date, time, address, and a quick checklist of what to bring. If you haven’t seen it yet, please keep an eye out—it should arrive shortly!
2. Class Details
Please make sure to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early to fill out any necessary paperwork and get settled in. Our front desk will be happy to assist you when you arrive!
3. Location
We are located at 1210-A W. Beverly Blvd, Montebello, next to WSS Shoes on the 2nd floor. Once you arrive, you’ll find a hallway that leads to our studio door. Please feel free to pick up a registration form at the welcome table to fill out before class.
- What to Wear
Comfortable workout attire is perfect for your class!
- Hip hop & gymnastics: Leggings, a tank or t-shirt, and sneakers or dance shoes.
- Ballet: Leotard, tights, ballet shoes (all light pink), hair up, and a water bottle. If you don’t have these, please wear black leggings, a t-shirt, and socks—this works well for jazz class too!
- We recommend wearing something that allows for movement and flexibility. If you’re unsure about footwear, feel free to ask us when you arrive!
5. What to Bring
- Water bottle: Stay hydrated!
- A positive attitude: We’re all about fun and learning, so come ready to enjoy yourself.
- Dance shoes or sneakers: If you have dance shoes, great! If not, sneakers will work just fine for your first class.
- Credit card: To secure your spot for future classes, please bring your credit card with you. Our class spots fill quickly, and we don’t want you to miss out on saving your spot!
6. What to Expect in Class
We understand that trying something new can be intimidating, especially for young ones. If your child is feeling shy or a bit emotional, please know that it’s completely normal! Some children may cry or feel hesitant at first—it’s all part of the process of adjusting to a new experience. We encourage you to give them time to acclimate to the new surroundings, and we’ll be there to support them.
We are confident that with time, consistency, and support, 90% of our students successfully acclimate and thrive within a month! Our instructors are here to guide your child and make the experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
7. After Your Class
Once your class is over, our staff will check in with you to see how you felt and answer any questions you may have. We’ll also give you information on how to sign up for classes.
We can’t wait to meet you and get started. If you have any questions before your trial, feel free to reach out to us at UntouchableDanceInfo@gmail.com
See you soon!
Best regards,
Untouchable Dance Studio
Helpful Tips for Parents of Toddler Dancers
We are so excited to have your child be part of the Untouchable Dance Studio family! Please read through these tips whether your child is brand new or a returning dancer, just to refresh your memory.
Before Class:
Be prepared! Please make sure your child has the correct dance shoes and clothing. We require NON-TIE ballet shoes. This helps our dancers and teachers not have to stop class to tie shoes. You can find out our other requirements in our Dress Code. All items are also available in our studio to purchase.
Build excitement! On your way to class, explain to your child that they will have lots of fun and meet new friends! Remind them that you will be right outside the door and can watch them during the class (through our viewing windows or LIVE FEED).
Use the restroom. Make sure your child uses the restroom before class. It is very distracting if your child needs to go to the bathroom during class. Students ages 3 & up must be fully potty-trained (they should be able to do all the steps on their own). If they are unable to go to the bathroom unassisted, we will call you from the lobby and have you take your child to the bathroom.
Get ready for class! The timing of your arrival affects how well your child will handle class. Please do not arrive too early or too late! Parents and families are welcome into the lobby. Please make sure your child is in the correct shoes and dancewear.
During Class:
Allow the teachers to teach. Please don’t walk into the studio if your child is having a hard time. Your child will soon learn how to listen to the teacher, find their spot, get in line, and wait their turn. We know that this is a learning process for your child and that all children develop differently. It does not bother us if your child is having a harder time. If we do need you, we will bring your child out to you.
Relax and make friends! Please enjoy a magazine and meet the other parents that are in your child’s class. You have some time to yourself (finally) so take advantage of it and don’t worry about your child in class. They’re in good hands!
Don’t worry if you can’t see your child the entire time. Parents will have the opportunity to watch the end of class at certain points in the year.
After Class:
Remind your child that you are proud of them! Even if your child didn’t have a “great” class, they will learn how to follow directions. They all learn at their own pace.
Please don’t give up! Tell them how excited you are to bring them back next week.
Encouraging Independence: A key part of our program is teaching independence. We kindly ask parents to observe from our viewing area rather than staying in the classroom. This allows children to bond with their instructor, learn to follow directions, and engage fully with their classmates. If your child cries, please allow our instructors to work through it—most children calm down within a few minutes once class begins.
Classroom Rules & Guidelines:
- No food, drinks (other than water), or gum in the classroom.
- Parents are encouraged to let the instructor lead the class—even if your child seems hesitant, stepping back and allowing them to adjust often leads to the best results.
- Bring a water bottle labeled with your child’s name—this will stay with them in the classroom.
- For safety reasons, we do not allow children to leave the classroom for breaks. Please take your child to the restroom before class begins.
- All students must be potty trained to participate.
Consistency is Key:
The first month is all about building routine and trust. Even if the first class feels a little rocky, attending consistently helps children gain confidence, learn the structure, and develop a love for dance. Most children acclimate beautifully within the first month. This is the norm, and the few exceptions typically need just a little extra time and encouragement.
A month is only the beginning—after 6 months, you’ll see a big transformation in your child. They’ll build confidence, social skills, and independence, setting them up for success in school, events outside the home, and life in general. We are here to support your family every step of the way! Thank you for trusting us with your child’s dance journey—we can’t wait to see them grow, learn, and shine in class!
